Epic Journeys - Spring 2023People all over the world have experienced life journeys, big or small, that shape the trajectory of their lives. This semester students had the opportunity to go on their own adventures. Students hiked local trails, camped in the desert, went through a ropes course and camped in the Cuyamaca State Park. During their adventures they captured the joy, struggles and self growth that transpired through different forms of art. Specifically, students used photographs taken during their epic journey to create a geometric mural.

Double Exposure - Fall 2022Students explore the questions "What pictures tell a story?" and "How do we tell the WHOLE story?" through an integrated Math, Humanities, Physics project. Students created graphic novels, pinhole cameras, photo journals, identity cards, and more!
In Math, students created their self portraits using hundreds of linear and quadratic equations. They then annotated their portrait by solving intersecting lines using substitution and elimination. |

Living History - Spring 2022Students immersed themselves in the history of early civilizations, the classical ages, and the middle ages, exploring the time periods through the mediums of time, communication, construction, and sustenance. To learn about each time period, they explored essential tools of various time periods through activities such as camping, constructing decorative boxes and binding books to contain their knowledge, and building pens and catapults to understand the lives of individuals over the course of time. To integrate the math, physics, and humanities of the various time periods into a final product, students will live history by crafting and performing a play that enacts scenes from the different time periods.

The Ripple Effect - Fall 2021While investigating the water nearest us, visiting the San Diego River, exploring tide pools, snorkeling around a student-made reef, discovering San Diego's drinking water sources, and listening to the ocean, students will answer three essential questions. Students will start by learning where our local water is, spend time focusing on how we as San Diegans affect that water, and transverse how it affects us. In order to integrate their knowledge of math, physics and humanities, students will dive deep into topics of sustainability, development, economics, water purification and more.

Who Dug It? - Fall 2019Archaeologists all over the world use objects to tell the unwritten story about people and civilizations, but how can they be so sure that how they interpret their findings is true to the actual events? This semester we will be digging deep into the mathematics and physics that play a role in archaeology in order to uncover the real history that lies below the surface.
